Rio 2016 Synchronized Swimming Schedule and Venue

From the 16th to the 19th of August, Rio 2016 Summer Olympics Synchronized swimming competitors are battling it out with each aiming to get the sports medals at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Center, located within the Barra da Tijuca Venue Clusters.

This Rio 2016 Summer Olympics aquatic sport has very few swimmers; only 104 competitors are taking part in this Rio Olympics Sport. It’s important to note that synchronized swimming is a women only sport; hence no men are taking part.

There are only 2 events; Duet and Team. Therefore, due to the events design and administration, a nation has qualified for either 2 or 9 synchronized swimmers.

A duet is a two swimmers event, while a team has nine swimmers. Nations that have nine swimmers have the same team event athletes competing at the duet event.

There are 8 teams from 5 continents namely Africa, Europe, Central and North America and Oceania. See below for the Rio Synchronized swimming qualified nations.

1. Africa will be represented by Egypt’s 9 synchronized swimmers

2. Asia will be represented by China’s 9 synchronized swimmers

3. South America will be represented by host Brazil’s 9 synchronized swimmers

4. Europe will have representation from Italy’s 9 synchronized swimmers, Russia’s nine and Ukraine’s 9

There is no team of synchronized swimmer representing Central and North America as they were clustered together with South America with host Brazil as the Americas Champion qualifying.

Unlike other sports, synchronized swimming is a 2 stage competition.

These 2 stages are:-

1. Free Routine for Duet and Teams

2. Free Routine Finals for both Duet and Teams

Rio 2016 Synchronized will only take 4 days and below is the complete schedule for this exciting sport.
